Indigeneity and Disability: Futures of Personhood, Care and Consent

What dreams for the world whisper through the cracks of this world that is breaking? This event brings together Ella Callow, Jen Deerinwater, Juliet McMullin, AM Kanngieser, and Petra Kuppers, with panel facilitator Marina Tsaplina, to delve into how the embodied realities and analytics of both indigeneity and disability open political, cultural, medical and spiritual imaginaries about body, land, practices of care and consent. The breadth and depth of these influential scholars, artists, cultural/political organizers and researchers will anchor the uprising of white nationalism that culminated in the January 6, 2021 attack on the United States Capitol in colonial history-into-present, while dreaming indigenous and disability futures.

Live CART transcription and ASL will be provided.

This event is part of the 2021 Cleveland Humanities Festival and is co-sponsored by Case Western Reserve University Department of Bioethics, The Baker-Nord Center for the Humanities, and the Graduate Student Council.
