The HPM I serves as an Area Manager within the Disease Intervention Section of the STD Control Branch, providing supervision, direction, and training to Disease Intervention Specialist (DIS) staff.  The Area manager is responsible for the oversight of staff providing STD disease intervention technical assistance, DIS mentorship, and surge response assistance to a geographically-based group of local health jurisdictions. The Area Manager provides technical assistance and guidance to assigned LHJs to build local capacity for STD disease intervention services and other communicable diseases. The Area Manager works collaboratively with managers and staff from the Office of AIDS, STD Surveillance, Epidemiology, Assessment, and Evaluation Section and the STD Program Development Section.
