Tips for Packing Your Bags for Vancouver

Even though the conference is not until June, there’s a lot to do, and now’s the time to begin preparing for this exciting trip! Following are four quick tips to help you get ready:

"If you look like your passport photo, you're too ill to travel." -- Will Kommen
It’s official: Under the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative, anyone traveling by air between the United States and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda must have a valid passport to leave or enter the United States as of January 23, 2007. Visit the U.S. Department of State website for more information on what you need to do to obtain a passport. http://travel.state.gov/
As the New Year is upon us, employers often ask for our plans regarding planned time off throughout the upcoming year. The SOPHE and IUHPE meetings will comprise more than a week out of the workplace. Don’t forget to talk to your supervisor now about requesting this time off!

Register online for the conference. The longer you wait, the higher the conference fees!

Whether by land, air or sea now is the time to be planning your mode of travel to receive the best rates. Compare rates from different companies to find the best route for you!

Stay tuned for more tips in upcoming newsletters and the SOPHE website (www.sophe.org).

10th Summer Service-Learning Institute

July 20-23, 2007, Cascade Mountains of Washington State

Service-learning is a structured learning experience that combines community service with preparation and reflection. Students engaged in service-learning provide community service in response to community-identified concerns and learn about the context in which service is provided, the connection between their service and their academic coursework, and their civic roles. The institute is taught by national experts in service-learning, including health professional faculty and community leaders who have developed successful service-learning partnerships.
